I love Pyramid. Their Kifta burger is waaaay better than Cleopatra Cafe. Excellent falafel too.

Visiting Santa Fe and exploring the variety of great places to eat here. After giving up on trying to get into another mediterranean restaurant we took this as our second pick. Turns out this was a lucky break for us. Located in a shopping strip along with several restaurants the decor is nothing exceptional. However it is clean and the service was good. The food is excellent. This is as good as any food I've had anywhere!

Eating here tonight was like a Twilight Zone experience. The table was greasy and dirty. The waiter agreed to clean off the glass top with Windex after he sneezed into his hand. The French fries for one entree' were too salty and could not be eaten. The pita bread arrived late and burned. An appetizer portion of falafel was forgotten. A discount coupon on the check was not deducted. A walk-in advised the lone server that she had been calling for 30 minutes to place a to-go order and inquired if the phone was out of order. The waiter had left the cell phone on from the last call. The register went dead while ringing up our check. We had to wait 20 minutes for a revised check in which the waiter said the manager would come and take care of it. The manager never came into the restaurant and finally after 15 minutes the waiter decided to call the manager at home and get tech support via phone. The 'air' of uncleanliness is very apparent to those daring enough to eat a meal here. We left this joke of a restaurant NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN.

Great place to eat Mediterranean and Greek food. Food is freshly made to order. Much better than other places we have eaten at. Prices are a lot better too.

TL;DR amazing food; amazingly poor service Just ate here for the first time and was blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. The tabouli was flavorful and pleasingly presented. The hummus was good, and the hot pita slices with it were seasoned and delicious even by themselves. I had the lamb burger, and it was moist and delicious, with a startlingly tasty mustard sauce that complemented it perfectly. The Greek salad was well dressed with just enough tang to keep it interesting. The final touch was a delicious pungent section of baklava drizzled with chocolate syrup. Absolutely wonderful, and spiced a little more heavily than I am used to. In a good way, obviously. On the other hand it took forever to get our food, the server couldn't remember who had what, and some of our party had the wrong orders taken. And the length of service time meant our fries were cold. But don't let that stop you! Plan on a long but delicious time at this restaurant.

My wife and I eat here a lot. Their food is consistently good and the staff is really helpful. We are big fans of the gyro plate and of their hummus. This is a great place, I highly recommend them.

Really good Moussaka, brink a loeuf (a soft-cooked egg and mashed potatoes wrapped in a phyllo pastry), amazing chicken tagine in a delicious, intriguingly spiced sauce with preserved lemons & olives. Decent wines. The kind of thoughtful service where your water or tea glass won't sit empty for very long, if at all.

Pyramid is undervalued in Santa Fe and shouldn't be. Everything is made when you order; yea you wait a bit. . slow food. . .but it is always wonderful. Their Swharma and Gyro meats are excellent, pita is fluffy, the "salad" part is quality lettuce and always just right tomatoes. Their sauces, both tzaziki and harissa are homemade. Hand cut fries - done beautifully. Great baklava for those with a sweet tooth - and honestly I'm a picky woman when it comes to the baklava. Their spanakopita is good, not great, but it serves (again I'm terribly snobby when it comes to this dish). But by and far the BEST is their Brik a Louf. . . which is like their version of a samosa or empanada but made with filo dough so it isn't overly doughy (which i really really like) - and the mashed potato/fresh herb/egg combination inside was TOP NOTCH. Do yourself a real favor and stop by this really unassuming place, yes, in a strip mall - but don't be concerned about that. Santa Fe has a lot of hidden gems in places just like this.

We both ordered the shawarma plate and some dolmas. The food tasted very fresh, the pitas were great and the waiter was very nice. Could use a remodel inside. Will come back!

Excellent little cafe that fills the bill when seeking Mediterranean while in Santa Fe. It's nice and clean with white table cloths and little booths. Tabbouleh and hummus and pita were excellent. Lentil soup excellent. Souvlaki was right on. The piped in jazz music was a nice add.

Great food! I had the Gyro sandwich and salad. Fresh ingredients and the lamb was tasty and tender. I'm visiting from out of town and found this place through Yelp as a Mediterranean style food place. The atmosphere is easy going and friendly. The wait staff was excellent. I would gladly come back here next time I'm in town.

Damn. I feel bad for all the folks that said this was the best whatever, whatever they'd every had from this place, because it really wasn't that good. The service was slow at 1PM and we had to track the waiter down to get our bill, so that was bothersome. But the chicken shawarma I got? Sin sabor. Flavorless. So I asked for some hot sauce to spice things up and what do I get? It looked like the salsa you get from Maria's down the street (this may have been a reminder that we should have gone there to eat better). When I'm at a middle eastern restaurant, I want a hot sauce to match, not New Mexican salsa. The pita bread was also pretty boring. I'd say I'm giving this place three stars only because I dislike bashing restaurants, especially the kind that are hard to come by in any particular city or town. But seriously, if the owners read this, please spice up your foods the way they should be and get on your waiters to be on their job. For your own sake.

I'm always surprised at the great reviews this place gets time and time again. I hadn't been to the Pyramid Cafe in over 10 years but recently went back to give it a try. First of all, there was a drunk (and possibly homeless) guy sitting in the dining room during lunch. He was loud and interruptive to the 1 of 2 tables that were occupied by guests. The poor couple was trying to be polite and would smile as he kept interrupting. The management or waitstaff should have asked him to leave. Secondly, I'll mention that I love Mediterranean/Greek food. I used to live in the Mediterranean and the food is amazing. The food I ordered that day from the Pyramid was not good. I was bummed because I really wanted the food to be tasty, fresh, and flavorful. Especially since I live very close to the Pyramid Cafe and would love to find another close and tasty eatery. The Pyramid Cafe, even after a 10-year hiatus, remains lackluster. As tired and drab as it's interior decor.

Excellent flavor and real value. Had the lamb couscous, moussaka and best Greek salad ever, plus fresh, warm pita. We returned for more. Highly recommend. I live in a 'foodie town' and wish this restaurant were here!!

EXCELLENT food! Great service and very fresh. Nothing special decor wise, but we go for the food, not the decor. Back several times! YUMMY! His Los Alamos restaurant by the same name is also great!

The food at this place is wonderful. We had the lamb salad, the lamb tagine and the chicken tagine. We tried both of the soups (the avgolemono was pretty good, the lamb stew was delish) and the greek salad (yum.) Friendly waiter. And a good beer. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food.

Having lunch at the Pyramid Cafe as I write. I am a local and this is one of my top two or three fav restaurants in Santa Fe which is saying a lot given the quantity and quality of eats in the City Different. Pyramids thing is Moroccan food with several Mediterranean favorites available too. Great beer selection rounds out an excellent choice for lunch and dinner. Friendly service and delicious food keep me coming back.

My wife and I have eaten gyro sandwiches all over the world including Greece. The Gyro Shawarma sandwich at Pyramid is A+++. They use organic, local meats and cook everything there. Their lamb does not come from the wholesale spit dealer in Chicago, where most every other restaurant sources their lamb. The manager, Darrin, was terrific to deal with. We eat out a lot, usually much more expensive fare, but the food is so good at Pyramid, we've been there 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

It's a dated place with nice selections on the menu. I ordered lamb shishkebab on basmati rice. Oh my what a disappointment, inedible. The lamb was extraordinarily tough and fatty, the basmati was completely unseasoned. The waiter was very kind and explained the source of the meat was a freshly butchered lamb which was raised in a natural environment and butchered in the halal (kosher) way but it was too fresh for my palate. He agreed that it was tough and should have had a day to rest. I asked about the basmati and he told me that rice was a new food for Northern Africa so perhaps it explains why it as so bland. He offered me a new dish and comped my meal after I explained that meat that can't be chewed will be hard for the stomach to digest. The gentleman was very cordial. The falafel was nice however very unfamiliar. They do try very hard and I wish them the best. Could be the chef was having a bad day.

Really not impressed. Finally decided to try Pyramid, partially swayed by the 4 star average on yelp. Definitely not worth 4 stars, 2 and a half, maybe. We showed up at 7pm on Saturday and there was only 1 other party in the place - already a bad sign. A few more parties came in over the next 45 minutes. The place was a bit dirty, the curtains up front looked nasty. There was an empty/used paper coke cup sitting on a shelf right next to the front entry. Just a bit of yuck feeling to the place. The food disapointment started when they didn't have the one dish on the menu my girlfriend wanted. The Greek salad was actually nice and fresh, with ample feta, but our mains were average at best, not bad, just not particularly good. Nothing that would make us want to go back. Experiment over, We will stick to Cleopatra.

Ever since the renovation, The Pyramid Cafe has come back out on top. The lamb dishes are superb and made with local organic lamb. The Greek salad with lamb is a standout, as is the lamb shank. I regularly order the carrot salad, the hummus and french fries as sides. I am eagerly anticipating an encounter with the chicken shwarma, especially since toom (a garlic dressing) is now on the menu. And I am constantly enchanted by the ambiance of this place: mellow jazz, soft lights, and a chilled glass with my imported beer. And all for such an incredibly reasonable price. This is Tunisian hospitality and home cooking at its best. Thank you, Pyramid Cafe!!!

This would have been four stars if not for all the flies. The front door opens into a room with two-person tables and the cash register. Off to the side is a larger room with four-person tables and space at the front for entertainment. The night we visited, there were belly dancers performing to live Mediterranean music. The kids had mini-pizzas and freshly made potato chips(!). My wife had the Pyramid Chicken Plate (Grilled Chicken breasts on basmati rice topped with Tzatziki sauce and a Greek salad and pita bread). She liked it but said the portions were larger than necessary. I had the Brik a Loeuf Supreme (Tunisian turnover stuffed with creamy mashed potatoes, egg parsley and capers, topped with Merguez sausage and served with Greek salad). I devoured it. Now, about the flies. There must have been three or four of them buzzing around our table. Don't get me wrong, I am all for authenticity, and for all I know those flies were the genuine deal imported from Cairo at great expense. Still, sometimes you need to sacrifice authenticity in favor of local conventions. Despite the flies, I would eat here again.

I went here today and the staff was helpful, but the food was lacking from what I'm used to in San Francisco. For one, the dolmas were pretty OK, but for some reason the Pyramid thinks it's OK to cover them with parsley and a bunch of "flair" that I think should have been avoided. And a veggie sandwich falafel on a pita bread, however "fluffy" simply doesn't compare to a much more desireable falafel "wrap" in flat bread... My $8 meal came out to be almost $14 dollars and included french fries that I really didn't want or order. But then again, this is Santa Fe, where people don't know REAL mediteranean food, so I'm bumping the star status up a notch for simply not knowing how to prepare good food.

This is a great bare-bones place for a quick lunch. You order at the counter, get a number, and then they bring the food to your table. The lamb here is wonderful and they make the best gyros I've ever had. Also, the dolmas and fries are delicious.

If I could afford to eat here all the time, I would. The lamb stew is to die for, as is the lentil. Mmm. Gyros are good, pita and hummus is delicious. Slouvaki pretty tasty. Plus, cute waiters. Really, what more incentive do you need?
